Panacea's Cloud: An Augmented Reality for Rescue System
An effective communication and coordination between medical incident commanders (ICs) and first medical responders (paramedics) on the site is vitally important to ensure saving people’s lives in mass casualty incidents (MCI). The system has been usability tested with mixed methods. The results revealed that Panacea’s cloud provides improved communication and coordination opportunities for the involved people during MCIs in comparison to a traditional rescue system. On the other hand, refinement for the next design cycle are needed to provide best user satisfaction. Overall, the design of Panacea’s cloud is promising for future system development during disaster management by distinguishing appropriate triage, monitoring of patients and paramedics on the site, preventing overwhelming hospitals, and leading effective use of resources.

Eye Tracking Demo to K-12 StudentsFatih Demir, postdoctoral fellow at the IE Lab, presented Tobii Pro Glasses to the Jefferson Middle School Students. Dr. Demir as guest speaker at Ms. Catherine Fulkerson’s class provided information about the eye tracking systems, potential research areas and benefits of eye tracking research. Students were excited about wearing the glasses.
